If you are New to Pinterest we will show you how to set up a Pinterest account STEP BY STEP. It’s really easy! This tutorial is for you if you want to set up a personal or business Pinterest account. It’s important to ensure that all your information is filled in properly if you want to get the most out of your Pinterest account. Pinterest can be a powerful tool if you have a blog and want to drive traffic to your blog posts.
How to Set Up a Pinterest Account – Sign Up Page
Click on the picture below to get to the sign-up page. You can either use your Facebook account to sign up or you can sign up using your email and new password. In my tutorial, I’m setting up my new account with my email.
Next, you will be prompted to fill in your name, age and choose if you are male or female. You can decide on this page if you want to set up your account as a business or personal account. If you want it set up as a business then click – Continue as a Business. You can always convert your account to a business account later. For this tutorial, we will set our account up as a personal account and convert as a business account at the end.
Next, pick your language from the drop-down menu and the country you live in. It’s important to choose the correct country you live it because some features are not available in all countries.
To help Pinterest suggest boards and pins that would interest you, you should pick 5 or more categories that interest you. Use the scroll down see all options. You can always update your options at a later stage. When you’ve made your selections and hit the Done button you will be taken into account and Pinterest will already have populated pins.
Right-click the three dots in the far right-hand corner of your screen. A drop-down menu will appear with an option to Edit Settings. To complete your profile you will click on this.
On the left-hand side of your screen, you will see Profile right under Account Basics. Click on it. Next, you will fill in your profile information.
- Fill in your Last Name
- upload an eye-catching Picture of yourself. If you want people to follow you they will look at your profile picture and headline to decide if they want to follow you. So if you are interested in getting followers pay attention to this step. Your photo should not have any brand names in it. Followers like to see who they are following.
- Your About You should not be longer than 160 characters.
- Fill in your current Location.
If you have a blog then fill in your blog address in the Claim Website box. This is useful because it unlocks extra features that are not available to personal users. You have access to analytics and you can easily see how well your pins are doing. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Settings.
Next click on your name and photo on the top right-hand side of the screen. It will take you to your profile page. You are now able to create your first board. When creating a new board there will be a slider at the bottom asking if you want your board secret or not. If you board is secret it means no one can find it. If you want people to find your board and follow it make sure that it isn’t secret.
Step 9 – Changing a Personal Account into a Business Account.
On the far right-hand corner click on the three dots again. You should see an option Switch to Business. Click on this option.
Switching from a personal to a business account is free. If you have a blog it’s a good idea to switch and use a business account instead of your personal account. You have access to analytics and can really drive traffic to your blog. When you have filled in all your details press Done.
You will now be directed to your new profile page, You will notice that your name will be replaced with your business name and your website will appear above your about me. Now it’s time to follow some pinners, create your own boards and have some fun pinning.
